Peggy Becky Akina Hamili, 92, of Wahiawa, Hawaii, our beloved mother and widow passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024. She was born on March 21, 1932 in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii. She was a retired civil servant with the United States Department of Defense, a long-time employee of Kemo'o Farm restaurant, and the owner of Peggy's Cafe. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles K. Hamili, Jr, her daugher Theresa Hamili, her mother, Violet Thompson Akina, step-mother Lily Ching Akina, father Alexander Akina, brothers Arnubi, Benson “Pali”, Donald, and Douglas “Butch” Akina and sisters Edna Akina and Mildred Akina Wietecha. She is survived by step-mother Patricia Akina, sisters Cleria “Jackie” Akina Gomes and Ethelene Akina Coleman, sister-in-law Sandra Kahalekai Akina and daughters Ruby Hamili (Sandi), Liane Baker (John), hanai daughters Sabrina McKenna and Diane Ho, sons Leon Hamili (Rebecca) and Ruben Hamili and grandchildren Ryan Hamili, Toni Moniz (Kris), Chenoa Yagin (Edison), “Ti” Titania Nikaido (Kealiikai), hanai granddaughter Desiree Rivera (Kevin), great grandchildren Malia Hamili (Landon), Kristeen Moniz, Ethan Moniz, Sophia Nikaido, Maile Hamili, and Manatea Hamili, great great grandchildren Ashton and Amish PecPec, and beloved aunties, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and pets.
Memorial Mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church on June 27, 2024 at 10:00am in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii. On July 11, 2024, viewing, visitation, and services at Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary, Makai Chapel 8:30-11:30am. Burial to follow at 1:00pm Schofield Veterans' Cemetery. Flowers welcome.
