Duane Urpanil
Duane Louie Urpanil, was born on December 31st, 1968, and passed into eternity March 26th, 2024, at the Sunrise Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas Nevada. Born and raised on the island of Lanai Duane was a journeyman carpenter by trade and when he was offered a work opportunity in Las Vegas, he moved to the ninth island in 2018. Duane’s life changed for the positive in Las Vegas, work was productive, it was in Las Vegas where he met and fell in love with Jenifer Taylan. They got married on April 3rd, 2021, and with their fur babies Pusa, Egypt, St. Francis and Dr. Seuss, Duane and Jenifer created a happy home together.
Duane is survived by his wife Jenifer Taylan Urpanil, mother Patricia (Richard) Morita, father Tommy Urpanil, siblings: Edwin D. Urpanil, Colette F. (Weston) Leslie, TJ (Christle) Morita, Kalea Urpanil (Mike) Vanderboom, Mali Urpanil, Rick (Shala) Morita, Roxanne Morita and Ross Morita. Two Nieces: Brelynn Urpanil (Keola) Williams and Paige Urpanil and seven Nephews; Austin Urpanil, Kana’i Morita, Kaikane Morita, Jackson Urpanil, Richart Morita, Sethe Morita, Waikoa Morita. Several grand nieces and nephews, and loving members of his extended family and countless friends.
Duane will live on and survive in each of our memories; his mischievous smile, infectious laugh, his giving generous heart and kindness of spirit that will be remembered fondly and missed deeply.
Please join us as we gather together to celebrate and honor the life of Duane on July 28th, 2024 at the ILWU Local 142 Union Hall, located on 840 Ilima Street, Lanai City, Hawai’i from 9:30am to 2:30pm. Visitation starting for family at 9:30am, public viewing at 10:00am, service to start at 11:00am, with lunch to follow.
