Ambrosia “Amy” (Fillazar) Parilla

AMBROSIA “AMY” (FILLAZAR) PARILLA

DECEMBER 7, 1944 – JULY 6, 2024

Ambrosia (nee Fillazar) Parilla, 79 years old, and affectionately known as “Amy” passed away peacefully at her Nazarene Family Home Care in Kenmore, Washington on July 6, 2024. She was comforted by her sons and their families when she was called to heaven. She was born in Pu’unene, Maui on December 7, 1944 to the late Donato and Primitiva (Casing) Fillazar and grew up in Camp Six and Alabama Village on the Pu’unene Plantation. She attended Pu’unene School and St. Anthony Girls School where she graduated in 1962. She served as their senior class treasurer. She had worked for several Maui businesses, including as a ward clerk at Maui Memorial Medical Center and with Maui Office Machines. In her younger years, she also served in the Navy Reserve. While living in Kent, Washington she was active with the Holy Spirit Catholic Church with music ministry and also as a volunteer with the Sisters of St. Paul.

She is survived by her six sons Jess Steven Parilla of Kahului, Jeffrey (Barb Ober) Parilla of Washington, Jason (Sandy Makino) Parilla of California, Jamie (Erika Doi) Parilla of Oahu, Jesus, Jr. (Desiree Fernandez) Parilla of Nevada, and Joshua (Cheyenne Fernandez) Parilla of Missouri. She also leaves behind nine grandsons: Ryan, Kaci-Lee, Royce, Kaliko, Joseph, Isaac, Jacob, Jax, and Justin and four granddaughters: Malia Ambrosia, Kacia-Lynn, Kaitlyn and Jaclyn, and two great-grandsons: Keenan and Aiden and a great-grand daughter Kaile’a.

She is also survived by her brothers Euprepes Bill (+Dorothy Cagasan) Pellazar, Faustino “Foxy” (+Betsy Ho) Pellazar, Nathan “Nod” (+Nellie Arzaga) Pellazar, Boni (Janice Recamara) Fillazar, and Art Fillazar, as well as sisters-in-law Cheri Pellazar, Gloria (Don) Manzano, and many nephews and nieces and several cousins. She is predeceased by her husband, Jesus S. Sr., parents Donato and Primitiva “Eva” Fillazar, sister JoAnn Barona, brothers Claude Pellazar, Acacio Edward Pellazar, Marcelino “Rocky” Fillazar, and parent-in-laws Gualberto and Judith Parilla and Dolores Pacleb.

Services over urn are scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Kahului. Family viewing at 8:15am followed by public visitation from 8:45am. Eulogy will be presented at 10:00am, followed by the Mass for Christian Burial at 10:30am. Refreshments and light lunch will be available in the parish hall until 12:45pm. Internment will take place at 1:30pm at the Maui Memorial Park in Wailuku. Elemental Cremation and Burial of Bellevue, Washington has assisted with internment. Family requests no floral wreaths on stands.
