Fredrick “Freddie” – “Rico” Ponce
Freddie Ponce, 63, Originally from Paia passed away on June 30, 2024 at Maui
Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Freddie was born August 29, 1960 at Maui Memorial Hospital. Freddie attended Paia elementary School and graduated from Maui High in 1978. Freddie retired from Hawaii Commercial & Sugar Co. after serving 40 years. Freddie loved fishing, hunting, diving, cock fighting, camping, beach days and cook outs with his children, grandbabies, wife and his mom. Freddie was a care taker for his mom “Patsy Ponce” and he so enjoyed taken her everywhere he and his wife went with the Ohana. Freddie was a man of little words and little saying but he always made it a strong point to let everyone know how much he loved all his children, grandbabies, his mom and wife. His actions would speck louder that words. Freddie will forever be instilled in his children and grandbabies for teaching them all at a very young age of (5) how to hunt, fish, dive, plant fruits & vegetables on the Aina. How to raise pigs, rabbits, goats, chickens, turtle and not only raise but to kill, clean, cook which they all do so well taught by their Papa Freddie. Freddie was predeceased by his beloved dad, Jonny Ponce, beloved grandmother, Hattie Kualaau-Kukaua, beloved brothers, Randy and Henry Ponce. Freddie is survived by his wife, Molly Keolaokalani Koa-Ponce “Keola”, Mother, Patsy Nalani Ponce, Sons, Rico-Kaya Kaohuokekai “Kaohu” Ponce (Brittney), Joseph Correia IV, (Liliana), Daughters,
Tiana Ponce, (Sonny boy), Furlene Thompson, (Isaiah), 11 Grandbabies,
Kamakanaokalani, Nalu, Kawahine, Lehua, Kalahikiola, Kahele, Malulani, Pualani,
Ikaika, Lihau, Kealohiokekai, 1 Great Grandbaby, Iwalani, Hanai Brother, Leroy Hokoana, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends.
You will be greatly missed and loved forever. May you rest in peace, until we meet again.
