Constance Osorno
Constance “Connie” Valerie Osorno, 83, of Kihei, passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2024, under the care of her husband, family members, various caregivers and Hospice Maui.
Connie was born in Saginaw, Michigan to Glenn W. Law and Valerie (Wisner) Law on January 27, 1941. She graduated from LaSalle High School in St. Ignace, Michigan in 1958 and later obtained a Bachelors Teaching Degree in education from Western Michigan University. She married Felix Basque Osorno in St. Ignace on November 25, 1961. After living in Tripoli, Libya while Felix was in the Air Force, the family returned to Michigan with their growing family and eventually moved to Maui in 1980.
A longtime resident of Kihei, she was an active and involved member of the community. Connie taught First Grade for many years at Kihei Elementary School and later at Kamali’i Elementary School until retiring in 2005. She received several awards for her teaching excellence and had a positive impact on the lives of countless young children. She was also a dedicated member of Soroptimist International, the global volunteer organization that advocates for increased educational and economic empowerment for women and girls. She displayed her own entrepreneurial excellence by partnering with her husband to establish and operate Gaspare’s Place, the first pizza delivery restaurant on the island.
Connie kept in touch with her extended family through her bespoke greeting cards “Connie’s Collections”. She enjoyed travelling to see her grandchildren in Green Bay, Wisconsin and to attend her high school class reunions in St. Ignace. She looked forward to trying her luck at the many casinos on the drive from Green Bay to St. Ignace. She even won a grand prize at her favorite Wheel of Fortune game, which she tried to repeat during her annual trips to Las Vegas.
Connie is preceded in death by her parents and brother Glenn Law, Jr. She is survived by her husband Felix Osorno, Brother Robert Law (Kathy), children: Francis (Cathy); Mary; James (Tom) and Andrew (Holly); Grandchildren: Trevor, Ashley, Celia, and Chad Osorno; Nathan and Ryan Galusky; and great grandchild Theodore Osorno.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks for the compassionate care provided by Dr. Gayland D.K. Yee, M.D. and Hospice Maui and caregivers from: Bayada Home Health, Ho’okele Home Care, and Ohana Care Maui.
