Elizabeth Keala Han

Elizabeth Keala Han, 95 of Kula, Maui, peacefully passed away on October 19, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on September 30, 1929 in Puunene.

Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 am on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Holy Ghost Church in Kula; Eulogy at 10:30 am, mass will start at 11:00 am; a private burial will be held at a later date.

Keala was a retired Driver’s License Examiner for the county of Maui. Passionately involved in helping people and advocating for strong and fair labor practices including members' rights protections with her Union work from ILWU, Teamsters, UPW and HGEA. She was also an engaged activist standing up for our native Hawaiian people and preserving our culture and rights.

Keala was dedicated to her family, by being their source of wisdom, always offering support and abundance of love.

Keala was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Han; parents, William & Elizabeth Maxwell; daughter Koalani Han; and siblings, Sonny Bok, Wehilani Maxwell, Hiilei Maxwell, Nani Maxwell, Maxie Maxwell and Charles Maxwell. She is survived by her children, John M. Han, Slugo Han, Billy Han, Kimi Tamanaha (Shayne); and grandchildren, Kainani, Kamalu, Jonathan, Tyana, Keahi, Shayna, Kalaipono; and great grandchildren, Kiana, Skyler, Kahuliauakea, Kahikuokala, Kamalu, Rowen, Ilialoha, Uikikamahao and Warrick.

The family would like to acknowledge Hospice Maui for their compassionate care of Keala. Her ohana will always be grateful for the many nurses who helped care for their Mama.
