Harold Cup Choy

Harold Koong Bow Cup Choy of Kahului passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. He was 95 years old.

Harold was born in Kokomo, Maui on February 14, 1929. He was the 6th child of 11, by his dad, Ah Ping Cup Choy and mom Ah Sun Cheong. He graduated from the old Maui High School in Hamakuapoko in 1947, got drafted shortly thereafter into the Army where he proudly served for 21 years, finally retiring in 1971 with the rank of Sargent Major. He met his wife, Fumiko in Okinawa, Japan and had two fraternal twins, Miki and Jun.

He is predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Fumiko Cup Choy. Harold is survived by his two children, Miki and Jun (Evelyn), and two grandchildren Tyler John and Dylan. He is also survived by his sisters Elsie Allen, Mildred DeMello, and brother Thomas Cup Choy, and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Family visitation will commence at 9:00 a.m., public visitation at 9:30 a.m. Eulogy at 10:30 a.m. Prayer service at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will take place at the Maui Veterans Cemetery in Makawao at 1:00PM.
