John was born on June 25 , 1937 in Wailuku, Maui to Santiago & Emily Fernandez. In June 1961 he married his love, Patricia Ann “Patty” Ah-Mook Sang, and together they raised three sons. Mr. Fernandez retired from Wailuku Agriculture Business. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic engineer.

In his younger years, John loved music, dancing and playing ukulele and bongos. As he got older, he married, joined the National Guard, had their first son all while furthering his education with working on machinery. John and Patricia later had 2 more sons. The youngest to the oldest is about a 10 years difference in age. Purchased the land in Kahului, Maui and built a loving home.

They loved the Lord and participated in their church becoming stronger prayer warriors. Shared the gospel whenever, wherever, with whomever. John smiling, telling jokes and reminiscing of good times. If a car, washer, lawn mower or T.V. was broken, he would put on his glasses go out to his tool shop, take it all apart and fix it. What will be missed every day, is his voice. The sound of his laughter “You Kidding?”, “What’s New?” and his smile will never be forgotten.

In heaven, John will join his beloved wife Patricia of 63 years, and their eldest son John E. Fernandez along with his brother Steven Fernandez (living wife: Grace). He leaves behind to carry his memories his two sons; Michael Fernandez and Bryan Fernandez(Daughter in-law Leila) and Grandson Bryson, Grandson “CJ” Chaz John (Son of the Late John E.)(Mother to CJ; Candace), Grandson “DJ” David John (Son of Michael) (Mother of DJ; Jayna).
