Henry Lau

(Corrected from obituary printed on December 26, 2024) Henry T.S. Lau, 92, of Kula Maui, died on October 12, 2024 at Kula Hospital. He was born in Honolulu on July 20, 1932, to William Fook Lau and Annie Nyuk Loy Char and had four siblings, Francis (deceased), Gladys Ching (deceased), Edward and Larry. Henry was employed by the State of Hawaii Department of Taxation from 1965 to 1980. He then transferred to the County of Maui and retired in 1990 as the Director of Finance. Post retirement, Henry had the time to explore many new hobbies and pastimes to include traveling, water color painting and writing. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, gardening and tennis. Henry was an Air Force veteran who served from 1951 to 1955. Henry is survived by his daughter Cynthia (Tracy) Takamine and son Jonathan (Mariye deceased) and five grandchildren Eric Takamine, Liana (Takamine)Odanaka, Mikayla, Kayleen and Berylin. ****Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life in his honor to be held at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church, 9177 Kula Hwy on Saturday, January 11 2025. Visitation 9:00 am to 10:00 am, Eulogy 10:00 am to 10:30, Mass 10:30 am to 11:30 am. Light lunch to follow at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church community hall, 4300 Lower Kula Rd, immediately after the service.
