Suzanne Lee Freitas

January 21, 1952 – December 24, 2024
Suzanne Lee Freitas was born on January 21, 1952 in Detroit Michigan. She peacefully left her body on December 24, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, she was 72 years old.
Suzanne met the love of her life, Joaquin P. Freitas Jr. (Jack) shortly after she moved to Maui. They married on February 14, 1980 and have been together ever since. Suzanne always supported Jack while he built his businesses and their beautiful home in Olinda.
Suzanne started her career as a custom jewelry designer and after moving to Maui in 1976 she established Hawaiian Estates Realty LTD. During this time she developed a new subdivision in Pukalani (40 homes). Suzanne was always interested in serving her community. She was a delegate for the Democratic Party, and an active board member for the Maui Symphony Orchestra. Suzanne also spent four years as a Member of the County of Maui Department of Planning Commission. After all that she worked full time as the co-creator and manager of a non-profit “Waste Not Want Not,” serving senior centers and the Maui Food Bank.
Her parents are Leon and Margaret Mylenek, she has two sisters (Mariann and Joanne), and three brothers (Leon, James and Robert). Suzanne’s closest friends, Hayley and Cecilio Rosaga and Susan Moikeha have always been there supporting Suzanne to the very end. Suzanne also spent much of her life helping her family. Above all, the well being of her parents was a priority.
During her mother’s last years Suzanne’s daily life was organized around helping her mother be as happy as possible. This kind of caring and love is rare but has been resurrected in Hayley’s dedication to Suzanne in her final weeks. Suzanne will be missed by many but she will continue to live on in the hearts of the people that love her.
Suzanne will be buried at the Maui Veterans Cemetery on January 21, 2025 at 1PM.
You are invited to witness Suzanne’s final blessing by Reverent Robb Finberg of Grace Church at the cemetery. There will be a closed casket.
