John Tumbaga

John Dona Tumbaga, 65, passed away on January 25, 2025, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Born on June 21, 1959 in Honolulu, John lived a life marked by dedication to his family, work, and community.

John pursued his education at General Pio Del Pilar National High School in Makati Metro, Manila, Philippines. His career spanned multiple industries and locations, reflecting a strong work ethic and adaptability. As a skilled glazier, John worked with various glass companies across Hawaii, California, and Las Vegas. He also contributed to the workforce in Oahu's pineapple fields and held positions at Sniffen's Express, Trans Hawaiian, Budget Rental Car, Home Depot, Ground Transportation services, and Roberts Hawaii.

Beyond his professional endeavors, John served for 24 years and retired with distinction in the Army National Guard as a Sergeant First Class in both Hawaii and California. His service exemplified commitment and discipline–qualities that carried through every aspect of his life.

John is survived by his loving wife, Rainelle Tumbaga; brother Victoriano Tumbaga, sisters Christina Kruse and Maryann (Peter) DeVera; children Brandon (Adeline) Remigio, Johnathan (Shastein) Tumbaga, Kevin Tumbaga, Johnelle (Kegal-Joe) Burrill, and Krystle Tumbaga; hanai children Jonah Souza, Charles (Nikki) Hill, Ricky Cabanting, and Tiara Fernandez; as well as 27 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Bruno & Maria Tumbaga, brother Jose Tumbaga and in-laws Edward & Gladys Amana, sister in-law Charlene Yamasaki & brother in-laws Doug Kruse, Urban Amana & Vance Amana.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Eddie Tam Community Center (Main Hall), located at 931 Makawao Avenue in Makawao, Maui. Visitation will begin at noon with a service to follow at 1:30 p.m.
