Rod Hewit
Rod Hewit, 78, of Haiku passed peacefully Dec. 30, 2024. He was the proud father of two daughters, Michelle (Archie) Henry and Jessica (Joe) Silicio, and delighted in three grandchildren, three great-grands and many friends.
Rod loved eating with and cooking for friends and family, a consummate host famous for his breakfasts.
A career in cable installation took him throughout Washington and California. He kept busy in retirement, volunteering at the Food Bank and working with model trains, sharing with all ages.
In 2011, he settled in Maui with the “love of his life”, Beth Gregoire.
A car enthusiast, he kept in touch with old friends from racing days when he had his own “Slime Dog” racing track. He enjoyed blues and sought out music from concerts to small homey venues.
Thanks to the compassionate care staff at Kula Hospital and Maui Health.
Rod loved nature, and his ashes were spread at Baldwin Beach, where he never tired of seeing turtles, rainbows and the ocean.
RIP “Hot Rod”.
