Naomi Nemoto

Naomi Kawahara Nemoto, 77 of Kahului, Maui, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on Maui on July 10, 1947, Naomi was a beloved wife, stepmother, sister, aunt and grandmother. Naomi graduated from Maui High School in 1965 and attended Maui Community College for two years. She then moved to Anaheim, California where she worked in an administrative role with the state of California's Cypress College. In 1993, Naomi returned to Maui and worked for the State of Hawaii's Department of Education for approximately 25years until she retired. Naomi is survived by her loving husband of nearly 30years, Richard Nemoto; her step-children Casey (Sundra) Nemoto, and Teri-Lyn (Kendrick Oshita) Nemoto; brother Dale Kawahara; nephews Wade Kochi, Derek (Denise) Kochi and Cory (Chinhi Kim) Kochi,; 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 2 grandnieces, Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, Yoshio Kawahara and Kimie “Kay” Kawahara, as well as her sister Kathryn Kochi. Naomi will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, compassion, and love for cooking. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those she touched. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Naomi's life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Makawao Hongwanji. Visitation: 10:00am; Service: 11:00am with Lunch to follow.
