Carlos Sandoval

Carlos Sandoval passed away at the age of 64 on February 4, 2025 at his home in Hemet, CA.

Carlos grew up in Montebello, CA and later served in the US Navy, eventually moving to Maui, Hawaii.

‍Carlos’ great loves included taking his beloved dogs to the beach, deep sea fishing and anything to do with his son, Jacob. He was a lifetime fan of the NFL Raiders and loved all things sports.

He spent more than half of his life on Maui and always considered Maui his “home” embracing the culture and people.

He worked in the hospitality industry for many years, at one time as a downhill bike guide from Haleakala National Park. He enjoyed leading a variety of tours and inter-acting with guests, most recently earning the “employee of the year” distinction award for leading wine tours in California.

“Coach Carlos” as many knew and loved him, coached Upcountry soccer for several years and enjoyed every minute of it, even taking the soccer team to many tournaments including South Dakota, Nevada and Arizona where the team always enjoyed the adventures, such as visiting Mt. Rushmore, as much as the games.

Carlos is survived by several family members, including his son, Jacob, brother Reuben Sendejas, two sisters, nieces, nephews and many friends, including his faithful childhood friend, Gary Monte.

An informal beach Aloha “send off” is being planned on Maui in the near future. If you wish to contact Jacob and the family, please do so at sandovalmaui808@gmail.com
