Denis “Tosh” Akira Toshikiyo

Denis “Tosh” Akira Toshikiyo, 78, of Lahaina, Maui, currently of Wailuku, passed away on March 23, 2025 at his home surrounded by family, under the care of Hospice Maui. He was born on November 14, 1946 in Lahaina.

A celebration of Denis’ life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Ballard Family Mortuary. Visitation will begin at 8:30am; services start at 10am.

Denis graduated from Lahainaluna High School in 1964, attended Kansas State University, and obtained his Bachelor of Science in agronomy from the University of Hawaii-Manoa. Denis retired from Kapalua Land Company as Utility Superintendent, then spent many years growing plants and running his own nursery.

He enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, golfing, fishing, woodworking, cooking, baseball, and especially loved spending time with family and friends He was a proud son of Lahaina and supported all things Lahainaluna High School.

Prior to his passing, he worked tirelessly to start rebuilding the family property to ensure his family’s return to Lahaina after the 2023 wildfires.

Denis is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice Toshikiyo; 3 children, Ryan Toshikiyo (Jasmine Robertson), Kristina Toshikiyo (Michael Sado), and Trevor Toshikiyo; 6 grandchildren, Tyler Toshikiyo, Talan Toshikiyo, Trinitee Toshikiyo, Taleah Toshikiyo, Emi Sado, and Mari Sado; and numerous nieces & nephews.
