We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of John J. Smith of Haiku, Maui, who passed away on April 16, 2025.
John was born on May 5, 1952, in Santa Monica, California. He attended St. Monica's and later graduated cum laude from Cal State Northridge with a degree in Physical Therapy. In 1976, he moved to Maui, where he worked at Hale Makua and later with the Maui Medical Group.
John had a passion for surfing, studying astronomy, and most of all, making people laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Margaret Smith, and his brother, Paul.
John is survived by his son Grant, his sister Ellen, and his brother Patrick.
He will be deeply missed.
