Garret Hew
Garret W.C. Hew 69, of Kula, Maui passed away peacefully at home on June 19th, 2025. He was born in Puunene, Maui, Hawaii on August 3rd, 1955 to Harry S.C. Hew and Nellie K.K. (Shim) Hew.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 12th, 2025 at Ballard Family Mortuary, Kahului, Hawaii. Visitation from 9am to 10:30am and service at 10:30am.
Garret graduated from Maui High School and Oregon State University. He was a lifelong Kula farmer and rancher. He retired in 2019 from Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Co. (HC&S) as a Water Resource Manager after 33 years. In retirement he spent his time with his four grandchildren, traveled, hunted, and enjoyed taro farming and ranching.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Hew; daughter, Kelly (Ian) Cabatingan; son, Jason (Julie) Hew; sister, Donna (Steve) Lum; grandchildren, Paige and Dane Cabatingan, and Maisy and Ginny Hew; and nephews, Wayne (Lea) Yoshida Jr. and Aaron (Yurika) Akana.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Nellie Hew; brother, Wendall Hew, and sisters Debra (Ed) Engel and Sharon (Joe) Akana.
