Barbara J. Tavares Young, age 87, of Pohaku Street in Kahului, passed away peacefully at her home on July 16, 2025. Born on March 20, 1938, in Wailuku, Barbara embraced life with faith, strength, grace, and kindness.
Barbara's joy came from her family. She was a mother to Michael, Kristin, Gregory, Kevin, and Brian. She is preceded in death by her daughter Melanie. She was a grandmother to 12 and a great grandmother to 19. Barbara got married to Arthur in January of 1957 then left Maui to Oahu.She lived there and raised her children and spent time with the grandchildren.
Barbara returned to Maui at 76 years old. She loved the West Maui Mountains and Haleakala from the distance of her home.
A Mass will be held at Saint Anthony Church on August 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
