Jose Mendoza Lampitoc

Jose Mendoza Lampitoc of Wailuku, Maui, passed away on September 16, 2025 at home under hospice care with his beloved family by his side. Jose, also known as Joe, was 80 years old at the time of his passing. He was born in Pasngal, Bacarra, Province of Ilocos Norte, Republic of the Philippines.

He is survived by his loving wife, Estrelita Evangelista Lampitoc; sons Justin (Mila) Lampitoc and Joseph Rey Lampitoc; and daughter Lydia (Delbert) Torres. Joe was preceded in death by his infant daughter Jolita Grace Lampitoc. He is also survived by his beautiful grandchildren Isaiah Nicholas Torres, Ava Larelle Torres, Aiden Josh Lampitoc and Avee Ariana Desta Lampitoc.

Joe was born to Apolonio and Eugenia Ros Lampitoc (both deceased). His surviving siblings are Conchita (Pascual, deceased) Corpuz, Andrea (Eliseo) Aguada, Norma (Rupert) Cruz and Marina (Richard) Marqueling. Joe’s siblings who predeceased him are Alfredo (Delia, deceased), Carlito (Perlita) and Andres. Joe was loved by his many nieces and nephews.

A Journeyman Carpenter by trade, Joe worked with many construction companies including Hawaiian Dredging, Elima Engineering and Central Construction. Later, Joe started his own construction company called Lampitoc Construction. His job in the construction industry took him to the islands of Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, and Hawaii. Joe also loved to farm and raise livestock (chickens, goats, ducks).

Wake services will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 with family visitation at 5:00 p.m., public visitation at 6:00 p.m. and services at 7:00 p.m. Services will continue on Saturday, October 11, 2025 with family visitation at 8:00 a.m., public visitation at 9:00 a.m., the Eulogy at 10:30 a.m. and funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 2140 Main Street in Wailuku. (Parking is available in the Wailuku Garage parking structure at 30 North Church Street near the church. $2 for the first 2 hours, $1 per hour thereafter.) Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park.

The family thanks the staff at Liberty Dialysis for the wonderful care Joe received during his dialysis treatments as well as Encar Mendez and Rogelio Magbual of All Island Handivan Services for transporting Joe to his dialysis treatments. Many thanks to the staff and nurses at the ICU unit and Haleakala East at Maui Memorial Medical Center, with special thanks to the staff of Islands Hospice and the Bareng Family. A deep appreciation of Aloha to his doctors Benjamin Plank of Queens Medical Center, and Anil Punjabi, Kristin Tamura and Kevin Kato on Maui. Thank you to family and friends that came to visit him while he was at the hospital and those that came to visit him at home. The love and care you gave our family will be forever appreciated and loved.
