Mark Schuster
Mark Schuster
8/26/52-9/27/25
Mark Schuster, 73, a 21-year resident of Kula, died at home after a long, slow decline resulting from multiple chronic conditions.
Mark grew up in Pasadena, California, graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins and didn’t leave Colorado until 2005 when his love of the ocean, surfing, and windsurfing took precedence over his love of the Rocky Mountains and skiing.
Mark loved everything about his life on Maui and cherished the many friends he made here, many through his long association with Commercial Properties of Maui. He was lucky to have his wonderful next door neighbor Dee, who kept a loving and watchful eye on him. In addition to his Maui ohana, he maintained relationships with friends from junior high school and high school, college, skiing, and his real estate practice in Denver.
And anyone who knew Mark knew how much he loved his German Shepherds, Gungi, Kayla, Tucker, Raywah, Coal, and Tanner. And also his love of weed and Stoli.
He is survived by his sister, Catherine Schuster, and his nephew, Richard Schuster Border. I was lucky to have him as a brother and grateful that I was able to care for him during these last difficult years.
To those of you who knew and loved him, please know how much he appreciated your friendship and support. His legacy will live on in your memories.
A memorial service and paddle out will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lupus Foundation of America (https://www.lupus.org/).
May his memory be a blessing.
