Michael Minoru Kamimura

Michael Minoru Kamimura passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, in Carson, CA, at the age of 79.

Born on August 17, 1946, in Pu'unene, Maui – Michael was the son of Seiei and Tsuruko (Uesato) Kamimura. He grew up in Camp 8 on the Pu'unene sugarcane plantation, graduated from Baldwin High School, served in the U.S. Army, earned a BA in Sociology from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and proudly played trumpet in the Rainbow Warrior Marching Band.

After college, he would settle in So. California near his siblings, work in aerospace for over 30 years and marry the love of his life, Melody. Michael’s life was rooted in faith, family, and friendship. He enjoyed attending his daughter, Kerry's stage musicals and choral pursuits as a talented singer. He cherished time with his son, Mark's boys, Marco and Michio traveling to support their athletic pursuits, sharing his love of fishing, and eventually developing a bond with his great-grandson, Keone.

Michael embraced new adventures, purchasing a Harley in retirement, taking fishing trips, active in a local hiking club, played the recorder and 'ukulele in community groups, and volunteered at the Torrance Farmers Market. He loved spending time with nieces, nephews and lifelong best friends from Maui, Ted Wong and Dean Shiotsugu, who would visit him every week.

Michael’s legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
