Jefferson “Jeff” Gerard
Jefferson “Jeff” Bryan Gerard passed away surrounded by loved ones on November 7, 2025, after a long and courageous battle following a major stroke. He was 57 years old.
Jeff was born on September 23, 1968, in Mount Shasta, California, to Greg and Nancy Gerard. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Cari; his sons, Nainoa and Nakoa; and his parents, Greg and Nancy. Jeff was one of two children and is also survived by his sister, Tammy Perillo, and his five nieces and nephews.
Jeff grew up in Friday Harbor, Washington, where he enjoyed baseball, track, scuba diving, and skiing. While attending Western Washington University, he met his first wife, Malia. Together, they began their life on the Big Island of Hawai’i in 1991 and later welcomed two sons.
Jeff worked for SeaTech Contracting as a Project Manager and eventually as Vice President before the family moved to Maui in 1999.
On Maui, Jeff transitioned into commercial real estate, where he became a well-regarded and trusted presence in the industry. As Vice President and General Manager of MW Group, Ltd., he oversaw leasing operations, managed commercial assets, and supported new development projects across Maui and the State of Hawai’i. He was known for his practical leadership style, steady judgment, and the respectful relationships he built over many years.
Jeff also took on roles that supported the broader real estate community. He served as President of the Maui Commercial Roundtable Brokers Association, helping foster collaboration and industry connection. He later served as Chairperson of the Board for Maui United Way, contributing his time to fundraising and outreach that supported local nonprofits and island families.
He was a member of the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) Institute and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). In 2008, he was recognized by Pacific Business News as one of Hawai’i’s “Forty Under 40” for his work and community involvement.
Jeff met his wife Cari in 2010, and they married in 2015. They shared many wonderful adventures together, including a Christmas trip to Europe with the boys. Celebrating New Year’s Eve at the Eiffel Tower in Paris remained one of Jeff’s cherished memories.
Jeff touched countless lives–from Friday Harbor to Western Washington University, from the Big Island to Maui–and he carried friendships from every chapter of his life. His ‘ohana deeply appreciates every friend, colleague, caregiver and loved one who supported him and stood by him throughout the years and during his final journey.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in March 2026.
For friends wishing to honor Jeff, cards, memories, or any gestures of support for his sons, Nainoa and Nakoa, are deeply appreciated as they navigate this profound loss.
