Lorna Marlene Kaiuwailani Akima
Lorna Marlene Kaiuwailani Akima, 83, of Kamuela, died on Monday, November 3, 2025 at home. She was born on November 16, 1941 in Wailuku, Maui. She was a retired administrative officer for the Department of Interior, Pu’ukohola Heiau National Historic Site and was a class of 1959 graduate of St. Anthony High School, Maui. She was also life member of the Waimea Hawaiian Civic Club; member of ‘Ahahui Ka’ahumanu Chapter II, Waimea; and member of Tennessee Hawaiian Civic Club. Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Saturday (Jan. 10, 2026) at Waimea Anunciation Catholic Church; Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Casual/Aloha attire. Survived by, husband, William Akima of Kamuela; children, Willette “Kala” (Eddie) Akima-Akau of Kawaihae and William (Ululani) Akima of Kamuela; hanai daughter, Jolynn Dean of Kamuela; grandchildren, William “Amas” Akima, III, Shawnette Akima, Alika Akima, Shauncette Akima, Dansette Correa, Kekoa Guerrero, Nalu Akau and Zion Wong-Yuen; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
