Lorna Marlene Kaiuwailani Akima, 83, of Kamuela, died on Monday, November 3, 2025 at home. She was born on November 16, 1941 in Wailuku, Maui. She was a retired administrative officer for the Department of Interior, Pu'ukohola Heiau National Historic Site and was a class of 1959 graduate of St. Anthony High School, Maui. She was also life member of the Waimea Hawaiian Civic Club; member of 'Ahahui Ka'ahumanu Chapter II, Waimea; and member of Tennessee Hawaiian Civic Club. Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Saturday (Jan. 10, 2026) at Waimea Anunciation Catholic Church; Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Casual/Aloha attire. Survived by, husband, William Akima of Kamuela; children, Willette "Kala" (Eddie) Akima-Akau of Kawaihae and William (Ululani) Akima of Kamuela; hanai daughter, Jolynn Dean of Kamuela; grandchildren, William "Amas" Akima, III, Shawnette Akima, Alika Akima, Shauncette Akima, Dansette Correa, Kekoa Guerrero, Nalu Akau and Zion Wong-Yuen; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
