Lucille Shimabukuro

Lucille “Lue” Naomi Shimabukuro, age 83, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, at her home in Kahului, Maui. She was born on August 17, 1942, in PuÊ»unÄ”nÄ”, Maui, Hawaii, to Toshiro and Haruko Ibara.

Lucille graduated from Baldwin High School, where she met the love of her life, Yoshio Shimabukuro. They were married on December 16, 1960, and shared a loving and devoted marriage of more than 65 years. Together, they raised four sons.

Throughout her working years, Lucille was employed by Ed's Jewelers, Roy's Photo Studio, and Maui Blocks. She found great joy in spending time with her family and cherished every opportunity to be with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love of the ocean inspired a lifelong passion for maintaining beautiful saltwater fish aquariums, a hobby that brought her much happiness and fulfillment.

Lucille is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Yoshio Shimabukuro; her sons, Brian Shimabukuro, Duane Shimabukuro, Chris (Paulette) Shimabukuro, and Jon Shimabukuro; her brother, James (Shirley) Ibara; her grandchildren, Cullen (Jessica) Shimabukuro, Tyson (Shelby) Shimabukuro, Jayce Shimabukuro, Devin Shimabukuro, Megan Shimabukuro, Brandie (Ethan) Cabatingan, and TJ (Christie) Shimabukuro; and her great-grandchildren, Kamana Te'a, Zai Shimabukuro, Ka'ua Shimabukuro, Zaydee Cabatingan, Sebastian Shimabukuro, Ezekiel Shimabukuro, Zyla Shimabukuro, and Zara Shimabukuro.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Toshiro and Haruko Ibara, and her sister, Patricia (William) Kaneko.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the dedicated physicians, nurses, and staff of Maui Memorial Medical Center and Island Hospice for their exceptional care and support. Special thanks are extended to Tanya Takatani-Apo for her kindness, compassion, and devoted care of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Lucille will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her gentle spirit, and the love and warmth she shared with all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished always.
