Gary Byron Green died in Redmond, Oregon, on July 15, 2026. He was born on February 13, 1951, in Roseburg, Oregon to John and Shirley Green. Gary grew up in Oregon and as a young man worked at various sawmills throughout Oregon and Washington. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Business Administration at the University of Oregon in 1974 and was a devoted Ducks fan. He served for 6 years in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in April 1978. In 1988 he moved to Maui where he met his wife of 37 years. He worked for the Carpenters' Union and then the County of Maui as a building inspector. He eventually opened his own consulting business to assist others in the building permit process. He resided on Maui for 33 years before moving back to his beloved Oregon in 2021. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Morreira) Green; his two sisters, Phyllis (Bruce) Storey and Sandy (Dennis) Williams; and his Uncle Robert Green. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. He was known for his independence, work ethic, quiet resilience and wry sense of humor. A Celebration of Life will be held in Redmond, Oregon in August.
