Leo Arensberg
It is with profound sadness and faith in the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, that we announce the passing of Leo Francis Arensberg Sr., age 68, of Makawao, Hawaii. He was called home to the Lord on Thursday, July 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Leo was born on February 26, 1958, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Buddy Joseph and Donna Rose (Gorrell) Arensberg. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Makawao, where he lived deeply rooted in Christ and exemplified unwavering love for his family.
Leo graduated from St. Anthony High School and built a beautiful life centered on his faith, his family, and his work. He was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and dedicated catechist. His gift for connecting with people, make them laugh, and give memorable words of wisdom, will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Leo was preceded in death by his father-in-law Edmedio Galase Sr. He is survived by his brothers, Joseph (Julie), Patrick (Connie), Chris (Terri); his sisters, Mary (Jyun), Donna (Robert), and Maggie (David), his mother-in-law, Beatrice Galase; As well as many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and faith through his beloved wife of 48 years, Bj (Betty); His three children, Leo Jr. (Rosa), Angelynn (Keaka), and Leona (Sean), and nine precious grandchildren: Anthony Jr., Quinn, Noah, Alena, Orion, Aurelia, Hunter, Isabella, and Duke.
The mass of catholic burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Fr. Edison officiating. A Rosary will be prayed prior to the Mass.
A private family interment will follow at Valley Isle Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Makawao, HI.
