Linda Texeira

On May 25th, 2026, Heaven gained another beautiful soul. It comes with great sadness to announce that our “Meema,” Linda Elaine Texeira, passed away in her sleep at St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon after a long battle with heart disease. In her final days, she was surrounded and cared for by her daughter and grandson.

Born on April 22, 1943, she was the sixth of seven siblings born to William and Mabel (Yap) Sakamoto. Raised in Haiku, Linda graduated from St. Anthony High School. Through school, she met Gordon Texeira, and they were happily married on October 7th, 1961. They were soon blessed with the gift of family, having three children: Lance, Dana, and Lisa. After years of countless memories, Linda’s family became even bigger, and she became a grandmother to eight grandchildren: Garrett, Ikaika, Kanekoa, Brandon, Justin, Kawailoa, Anela, and Joshua.

Linda and Gordon were each other’s lifelong companions and remained so until Gordon’s sudden passing at the age of 76 on June 26th, 2017. Linda lived her remaining days in Oregon with her daughter, Lisa, and grandson, Joshua. Spending nearly six years in the Pacific Northwest, she was able to see and experience many new things and travel to countless new places. Linda remained very close with her siblings and growing family despite the distance.

Linda was an amazing cook, having been taught by her parents that food and family always go hand in hand. She was an avid listener of Hawaiian music, a lifelong pastime for her, and would often be heard humming and singing her favorite tunes. Collecting Hawaiian memorabilia and caring for her many plants and orchids brought her great joy.

She is survived by her three children, five grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her dog and best friend, Scrappy. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon, and her grandchildren Anela, Justin and Garrett.

Family and friends are invited to Holy Ghost Church, located at 4300 Lower Kula Road in Kula to attend her Celebration of Life and funeral services on August 8th, at 10:00am,with lunch to follow in the Holy Ghost Hall.
