Emiliano Toquero Andres, 86, of Lahaina, Maui, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, at Maui Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 5, 1940, in Binalonan, Pangasinan, Philippines, to the late Paulino and Paula Andres. He moved to Maui in 1969.
Emiliano was a hardworking husband, father, grandfather and provider to his family. Throughout his working years, he held multiple jobs, including working as an irrigator at Pioneer Mill Company until he retired in1999, and as a dishwasher at the Sheraton Maui Resort until he retired in 2002. He most recently worked at the Old Lahaina Luau until he retired in 2012.
Emiliano loved to travel after his retirement. He especially enjoyed traveling by cruise ship, exploring the majestic beauty of Alaska, the pristine beaches of the Bahamas, and the religious and historic sites throughout Europe.
Gardening was one of Emiliano's greatest passions and a source of joy throughout his life. He could often be found tending to his garden, tilling the soil, and planting a wide variety of vegetables. He took great pride in sharing the fruits of his labor with family, friends, and neighbors.
Emiliano is survived by his loving wife, Saturnina Andres; his sons, Elmer (Jojie) Andres and Albert Andres; and his grandchildren, Annika Lexi and Ezekiel Zane. He is also survived by his brothers, Florentino Andres, Sr., Victor Carnate, Venancio Carnate, and Renato Carnate; and his sisters, Aida Tambo, Teresita Jacang, and Laurita Ursua. He was predeceased by his sisters, Rufina Abut, Lolita Nava, and Leonora Carnate.
A Celebration of Life and Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Maria Lanakila Catholic Church in Lahaina, Maui. Family viewing will be from 8:30-9:00 a.m., followed by public viewing from 9:00-10:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be held from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park Garden of Meditation.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all of his doctors, nurses, certified nursing assistants, and staff at Maui Memorial Medical Center for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they showed him and his family.
