Richard M Yamashita of Makawao passed away peacefully at Maui Memorial Medical Center on August 2, 2026. He was born on December 11, 1939 in Lanai City and graduated from H.P.Baldwin High School in 1959. He worked in the construction industry retiring as an electric lineman. Much of his retired life was spent enjoying the casinos in Las Vegas. Hosting gatherings with family and friends was his other passion, and often included challenging everyone to a game of darts. He is survived by his : Wife -Elaine Slavinsky; Children- Richard C. ,Venus (Glen) Kinoshita, Jessica Watanabe, and Christopher (Stacy) Franco; 9 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. He is sorely missed and will remain in our hearts forever. Per his wishes, there will be no Funeral service or formal Celebration of Life. Any donations in his name may be made to the Maui Humane Society – his only final wish. Rest in Peace
