Letha Rosemary (Yap) Palmanteer, 80, passed away on August 31, 2026, at her home in Nespelem, Washing-ton, having been in hos-pice care for the better part of a year.
She was born on De-cember 18, 1945, in Ho-nolulu HI, eldest child to the late Harold Leong and Mary Frances (Buff) Yap and was preceded in death by her infant son, Kapele Harold Ala-paki Robis and her brother, Harold Leon Yap.
Letha graduated from Narimasu High School in Tokyo, Japan, Class of 1963. She subse-quently moved back to Hawaii where she start-ed her family in Pauwe-la, Maui.
After raising her chil-dren, Letha spent her remaining years living in Alaska, Hawaii, and Washington State with her husband Monte.
Letha is survived by her husband, Monte Palmanteer; her son, Kaloi Robis, and daugh-ters, Kim Robis and Lei-alani Robis; two grand-children: Marissa (Patrick) Krebs, and Kiliohu Robis; six sis-ters: Yolanda Domyan, Sylvia (Roger) Brown, Mary (Randy) Pascua, Theresa (Rudy Piano) Yap, Dodie (Isaac) Kekuewa, Pauline (Nor-man Miyasato) Yap; two aunts, many niec-es, nephews, and cous-ins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Maui, Hawaii.
