Dr. Mark Allen Henzler

In Loving Memory of Dr. Mark Allen Henzler

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Mark Henzler, who died on September 18, 2026, in Honolulu, Hawaii, following a tragic boating accident that occurred three days earlier. At the time of his death, he was living between Kula, Maui and Star, Idaho; but also, throughout his life in many places in the US and a few around the world.

He is survived by his beloved wife Patty (Fox) Henzler and their three children: Alicia, Alexis and Mark, Jr. and siblings Cathy (Henzler) Weber, Jeff, David and Gregory, many nieces and nephews and extended family members as well as dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert P and Helen M (Stiploshek), brother Robert and nephew Jeffery Henzler, Jr.

Mark lived a full and vibrant life. He embraced each day as though there were no tomorrow, with a sense of humor, finding joy, purpose and excitement in every moment. To Mark each day was a new adventure, and he welcomed life and the people around him with an open heart and an eagerness to experience all they had to offer.

Mark's life's work was emergency medicine. He started in medical school in Mexico and completed his internship and residency in the US. Throughout his career he maintained double board certification in Emergency and Internal Medicine of which he was quietly proud. A dedicated physician working long, demanding hours in the emergency room, Mark focused on the care and healing of his patients. He was loved by patients and all the medical community.

As hard as Mark worked, he played just as hard. He had a passion for life that never faded. He was an avid outdoorsman: hunting, fishing and camping in wilderness areas throughout North America. Known for his life-challenging adventures, Mark was in continual demand from family and friends to participate with him in those memorial events. Mark was a self-taught sailor learning mostly by trial and error - another source of adventures for family and friends. He sailed and fished in many places around the world from the Chesapeake to Belize, Mexico and New Zealand. Another water sport he cherished was free diving to spearfish elusive deep-water catches. A third was white water rafting, where he conquered some of the most challenging rivers in the Northwest, the Yukon and Alaska, eventually becoming a certified whitewater canoe guide.

Mark was a devoted family man and a remarkable presence in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. For 43 years he was the love of his wife's life, her partner, her strength, and her constant star. He was the guiding presence for his children helping whenever the need arose. Despite his busy life he was always available to help a friend in need or just spend a day relaxing with friends and family.

Mark will be remembered for the life he lived, the love he gave, the family he cherished, and the countless memories he created through his many adventures. Mark's absence leaves an immeasurable void, but his love, spirit, and legacy will continue to live on through his family and all those whose lives he touched. The lessons he shared, the joy he brought, and the memories he created will remain a lasting part of the lives of those who knew him and grew to love him.

Mark will be deeply missed and forever loved.
