Doris Yone Shimabukuro Pung of Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii passed away on May 29, 2023 with family and friends by her side. She is preceded by her parents, Seikichi and Kame Shimabukuro and husband, David Pung. She is survived by sons, Derrick (Janice) Pung and Dorsey Pung; daughter, Debra Lee (Roy) Merritt Neiva; and grandchildren, David Pung, Jodi Pung and Corey Pung. Laureen Sakugawa Chang passed away on July 9th, 2023, in Makena, Maui, Hawaii. She was born on March 26th, 1934 to Ushi and Tsuru Sakugawa in Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii. She is survived by her beloved husband; Edward Y. Chang, Jr. of Makena; her 5 children, Keiki (Clem), Puena (Stan), Lani (Randy), Eddie (Rebecca), and Momi (Dutch); 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Hatsume Sylvia Taira of Lahaina peacefully passed away on April 17, 2023 under the care of her daughter, Jane Chinen and her family. Hatsume was born on February 11, 1920 in Kaupakulua Maui. She was preceded by her parents, Jiro and Kame Shiroma, loving husband, Shigeru Taira and brother, Isao Shiroma. Helen Kagehiro passed away on May 31, 2023, at the age of 83. Born and raised in Hilo, she fondly remembered growing up with her five siblings among the Pi‘ihonua community.
