Michael David Blum passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2022. Michael was born on May 18, 1973 in Hawaii, he moved to Jim Thorpe, PA where he spent most of his childhood years. Then he moved back to Hawaii later in life & he last resided in Wailuku, Hawaii. Michael is survived by his son Luke Christopher Blum, his mother Pamela R. Blum & father Robert C. Blum. Herman Chun of Kahului, Maui, passed away on July 24, 2022, under the care of Hospice Maui, surrounded by family. He was born on June 16, 1933, in Honolulu. A memorial service for Herman will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, with visitation from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Ballard Family Mortuary; service to start at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Punchbowl Cemetery on Oahu. Norman Jon Freeland, 83

Norman Jon Freeland, of Kihei, passed away on July 25, 2022 at his home. He was born on August 9, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois. Norman is a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked as an engineer for Jet Propulsion Laboratory-Caltech. He is survived by his wife, April A. Freeland; children, Angel (Ralph) Schwoerer, Jeff (Karen) Freeland, Warren Garner, Audra (Andrew) Knoedler, Daniel Garner, and Jeffrey (Abra) Garner; 13 grandchildren, and 7 great- grandchildren. Ballard Family Mortuary assisted with the arrangements.

Setsuko Takahashi, 96

Setsuko Takahashi of Pukalani, Maui, passed away on July 7, 2022, under the care of Islands Hospice. She was born on October 1, 1925, in Spreckelsville, Maui. Private services for Setsuko were held on July 16 at Paia Man-tokuji Soto Zen Mission. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that ko-den be made to Islands Hospice or Paia Mantokuji Soto Zen Mission. Setsuko worked at Maui Pineapple Cannery as a pineapple trimmer for 20+ years. She also found time to babysit her grandchildren and children of family and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Shizuo Takahashi. ...

Harriet Matsuda, 93

Harriet Matsuda, of Kahului, Maui, died on June 5, 2022. Harriet was predeceased by her husband, Thomas. She is survived by son, Andrew; daughter, Annelle (Ronald) Tamanaha; sister, Kathleen Ayako Higashi; and a grandchild. A small private grave-side service was held. Wilhelmina (Wilma) Helm-Kamaka

A memorial service will take place at Christ the King Church in Kahului from 9:00am, with mass to begin at 11:00am on July 22, 2022. After retirement Wilma continued to work as a housekeeper for Christ the King Parish in Kahului.
