• Correction Roy Shoji Yashiro, 90, of Wailuku, quietly passed away on December 19, 2017 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. Private services were held on January 20, 2018. Roy was peacefully laid to rest next to his wife, Flora (“Flo”), at the Maui Veterans’ Cemetery in Makawao. Nakamura Mortuary assisted with arrangements. Roy was born on May 19, 1927 to Jotetsu and Shijeko Yashiro. He was the youngest of three children and the second son. John Harris Sample, 64, of Maalaea, Maui, passed away on January 9, 2018. He was born on August 15, 1953, in Spokane, Washington. John retired from the U.S. Navy. He was a loving brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his brother, James Sample; sister, Katherine (Michael Sr.) Freitas; nephew, Michael Freitas, Jr.; and niece, Janda Sample. Donato Remigio, 97, of Lahaina, Maui passed away on December 19, 2017 at his residence under the care of his loving family and Hospice Maui. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Nakamura Mortuary, viewing from 6:00pm, with prayer services to begin at 7:00pm. A second service will be held in Oahu.
