Joan L. Chalk, 92, of Kahului, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2017 at Hale Makua Kahului. Services will be held at Christ the King Church in Kahului on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017. Visitation will begin at 8:30am, with mass at 10:00am. A celebration of life will follow services. Joan was born on Jan. 5, 1925 in Los Angeles, CA, to Robert & Julia Burns. Dennis John Lovell, born March 21, 1947, in Honolulu, Hawai‘i passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Wailuku, Maui. Dennis was the son of the late Margaret “Margie” Wood Higgins and Charles Lovell. Dennis graduated from Kalani High School in 1966. He attended California State University, Fresno, California, but his education was interrupted to enlist in to the US Army in 1967.
