Toshie Kohatsu Nako

Toshie Kohatsu Nako, 91 died on February 8, 2024 at Hale Makua Kahului, under Hospice Maui care. She was born March 11, 1932 in Paia, Maui to Tara & Kamado Kohatsu. Toshie was the last of 10 brothers and sisters. Toshie grew up in Kaheka camp in Paia. She shared many fond memories of living in the plantation camp and enjoyed the reunions. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Harold Nako. James Kalua

James Kalua, 60, of Wailuku, died January 1, 2024 in Maui Memorial Medical Hospital. Funeral service will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on Saturday, March 9, 2024 beginning at 10 am, ending at 1pm. He was born in Honolulu on October 10, 1963. He was the first born son of Francine Cockett and James Kalua Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Sierra Kalua, and two brothers, Jay and Jarrad Kalua. He worked as a security officer at the Hyatt Regency Maui in Lahaina. He loved to make the people around him laugh, and he will be greatly missed.
