Welcome to the Weekender

As we evolve to a six-day per week publishing cycle, this is the first edition of our brand-new Weekender. Delivered on Saturdays, it will have all the special features of our Sunday product, including color comics, The Channel Surfer, expanded sports coverage, community news and Pau Hana, as well as special feature stories about Maui County and its people.

The Weekender will be available on newsstands and from dealers both Saturday and Sunday every week. As part of the change, our readers will be able to access sports and news developments on Saturdays on our website, which will be updated regularly. The news division also will publish an original local story first thing Sunday morning on the website, which will be published later in Monday morning’s paper.

Newspapers traditionally have been beacons in the community they serve, sharing a snapshot of what life is like in a place in the moment they are printed. Along the way, they grew to include state, national and world news. While these are important parts of papers, and we won’t stop including those stories, we know that our niche is local and want to put as many local names and faces into our pages as possible.

This is where a community comes in — letting us know about upcoming events, submitting news releases and being partners in helping us put together a great paper in Maui County.

We value our relationship with readers and our advertisers, and we remain committed to providing the best local news coverage and advertising and marketing options — as we have for the past 119 years.

While our industry continues to evolve, our commitment to you is unwavering, and we look forward to many more years of service to Maui County. Readers, of course, have 24-hour access to our website — mauinews.com — where breaking news and updates will continue to be available seven days a week.

Subscribers also have continuous access

to our Replica Edition — all the pages of our most recent printed edition by clicking Today’s Paper on our website or using the Maui News On The Go app.

We hope you enjoy the new Weekender — our staff is committed to gathering and utilizing feedback from our community. Please email jbradley@mauinews.com to give feedback or suggestions about The Weekender.
