A customer-driven airline, what a concept with Makani

How refreshing to read of the advent of Makani Kai Air now offering scheduled service between Molokai and Maui (The Maui News, May 7). An airline that is customer driven, what a concept.

Those of us old enough to remember Royal Hawaiian Air service might get a bit nostalgic to learn Makani Kai President Richard Schuman intends to emulate those “good ol’ days.” Show up just minutes before departure, no lines or TSA hassle, go to the gate with grandma to see her off, and more. How unique! Started in 1988, they are kamaaina. Mahalo nui loa, Makani Kai.
