The recent obituary published for my father, Joseph William Bertram Jr., listed some of the community benefits he accomplished in his long life. Even though I was unable to gather at his bedside before he died, we spoke on the phone and he assured me it was OK.
I was able to attend the memorial but neglected to list his support for me and his creation of a map for the trail system for Kihei, including the Kihei Greenway. His map formed the basis for our open space master plan and his constant support for my efforts was a major reason for my success.
Happy Father's Day from your son. I'll always love you.
