Happy for competition in interisland air travel
News outlets report that Hawaiian Airlines announced in January a year-end profit for 2018 of $233 million. Hawaiian Airlines has never, in my opinion, earned the right to designate itself as “pono.” Only when Southwest Airlines entered the interisland market (hallelujah!) did Hawaiian consider the local population when setting interisland air fares.
Hawaiian isn’t going away, but like a previous letter writer, I’m so glad there’s new competition in interisland air travel. Aloha, Southwest Airlines, to Hawaii!
