Outlawing abortion may foster respect for life
On Nov. 29, a letter from a 72-year-old man asked how stopping abortions will stop school shootings.
Presumably, if we as a society were to outlaw the killing of millions of our children every year, we may begin to foster a new respect for human life. In every religion or morality that I know of, the taking of innocent life is a sin or a crime.
On the other hand, where it is considered right, moral, justifiable and even wonderful to slaughter the littlest and most helpless, it becomes only a matter of degree. “Why not sacrifice older children as well?” Where to draw the line?
Perhaps we need to consider euthanizing people over a certain age who are no longer productive. I am joking, but you get the point.
