I've been hearing a lot lately about global warming/global climate change/global weather catastrophe and the rising sea levels. There has been published "research" supposedly linking global warming to the melting of the glaciers causing the rising sea levels. Being a skeptic, I decided to try a common-sense experiment.
Fill a large glass with as much ice as you can fit in. That's your glacier. Fill the glass all the way up to the top with cold water just short of overflowing. That's the current sea level. Now set it out at room temperature. As the ice melts, watch closely what happens to the level of the water (sea level). If the glass overflows, that would indicate that the scientists are correct in saying that melting glaciers contribute the rising sea levels. If the water level remains the same or recedes, that would indicate the rise of sea levels can be attributed to tides or other natural phenomenon called weather.
