You may like, dislike or be indifferent to Maui having a professional nonpartisan manager oversee Maui County as many counties now do across the nation, to my mind, allowing for a far more efficient way to govern.
After years of political duplicity, countless reviews and studies, the citizens, not the politicians, may finally get an opportunity to decide how we wish to be governed, as the issue can now be placed on the November ballot after a full council vote.
Allow the population, not the politicians with possible alternative motives, to decide our type of government. Bust up the Old Boy networking and take a chance with a far more transparent and accountable system.
Let the citizens now decide and then vote through debate and discussion after too many years of review and political trickery. Let your council member know it is time for the entire community to decide one way or another on the manager issue, not a few vested politicians. Ask them how they will vote and why!
