I am reaching out to Trina Wade and her family for the purpose of expressing my shock and concern over the incident described in the article and that you and your family (visitors from California) were threatened and assaulted while in Paia. Such conduct is highly disturbing and should never be tolerated in our community!
As a long-time resident of Maui and one who operates a bed and breakfast business in Haiku, I am appalled at the recent wave of violence in Hawaii, some of which I have witnessed.

Lastly, if you and your family ever desire or need to relocate to another accommodation during your stay on Maui due to travel restrictions or any other reason, I would be happy to host you at my villa in Haiku at no charge. I would like for your family to leave Maui, and Hawaii, with some sense or belief that you were very welcomed to our island and that we who live here absolutely do not condone any words or actions which suggest that visitors are anything but our most welcome guests.
