In regard to "Hatred of Trump uncalled for," your memory fails. The people of America didn't elect Mr. Trump to the presidency, they elected Hillary Clinton by 3 million votes. Mr. Trump was installed as president due to an archaic process whereby the states get to choose who holds that office.
The vulgar diatribe you referenced contained many provable truths. Hate is perhaps too strong a word, but I would forgive anyone for using it, considering Mr. Trump's anemic response to this pandemic.
Upwards of 50,000 of the 90,000 lives that have been lost to COVID-19 could well have been saved had Mr. Trump heeded the warnings in November, December and 12 times in January that a major pandemic was on the horizon. He could have used the Defense Production Act to ramp up production of PPE, ventilators and tests for the virus that could have given us the edge to test, trace and quarantine two months earlier. This would have allowed for a much more limited shutdown of the country, saving us from these disastrous economic consequences.
Make no mistake, Mr. Trump cares about no one but himself. That is why we're in this hell. Mr. Trump looks on this pandemic as a slap in the face of his reelection chances, not as a disease that likely will have killed millions before it burns its way through the population. That is why he's so intent on getting the economy up and running again, not to save our jobs, but to save his.
