As of the writing of this opinion, the mayor has stated that he is planning to allow drive-in religious services. Why only drive-in services? Where is the science for this decision?
Maui County has had no new cases for more than a week. Our hospital has plenty of room if there are new cases since there is only one coronavirus patient left in the hospital. Our total number of cases never reached 1 in 1,000 people. We have testing and contact tracing that was supposed to be necessary for us to bend the curve. Now there is no curve. We can be trusted. We have a God-given right to worship as well as a constitutional right. We can worship with masks, social distancing and keeping our hands clean. We have learned all the rules. Please open all places of worship.
