Deliver packages to door or advise why you won’t

1 min read

Within the last six months, the USPS mail carriers for Maui Meadows have quit delivering packages to the door if they won't fit in the mailbox.

There has been no attempt to drive up the driveway where there is turnaround space, nor horn honking to let us know there's a package. Only one more trip to the Kihei Post Office for pickup.

I was provided USPS Form 4232, Rural Customer Delivery Instructions, by the postmistress in Kihei. The form indicates the delivery address must be within half a mile of the postal route for delivery to the door; we are well within that distance.

Another local postmaster indicated that this problem is not a USPS mandate, but a decision made at the Kihei Post Office.

One of deliveries that wasn't made was mail order medications.

USPS, deliver the mail to the door when necessary or publicly advise the customers why you won't.
