The selection of HUD-approved rentals on Maui is absolutely ridiculous!

Why don’t landlords want to accept guaranteed money from the government to house usually single or low-income mothers?

The laws about this need absolutely to be changed.

Every rental unit on Maui should be safe and livable and yes, all rentals should accept HUD or be HUD-approved.

Something is definitely wrong with this picture. In the Mainland, it is law that every rental be HUD approved or it is considered illegal housing discrimination.

Trying to find a unit for a new voucher holder within the two-month time limit is usually impossible and daunting, so over 50 percent of new voucher holders lose the chance to utilize HUD.

This is absolutely backward and stupid. Please, make it mandatory for every dwelling to accept HUD.

Give us locals a fighting chance. We can’t count on the landlords to make a change unfortunately.
