Ever since they installed the new electronic reader for our water meter, our bill has increased from $130 to $150 for a two-month period. The month in between those months our bill was down substantially, and none of it made sense.
I called the water department and was told that I had a new meter that was reading the water delivery more properly than the old one, so that's why the bill has increased.
I was also told that the month in between was low because they couldn't get the reading from the meter, so they estimated the usages based on past months; it was much lower.
I explained to them that we haven't changed a thing with our water usage and there's no way our bill is that high. So, I asked for someone to come over and check the meter.
Within a couple of days, a worker stopped by and told me my meter was not in fact new, it was the old meter with the new electronic reader.
The county water employee couldn't find a leak and said he would have someone run a profile on my meter so I would be able to see peak hours of usage and see if anything has changed.
I haven't received that report yet. I turned on my irrigation system myself to personally check for leaks or if it's running too long, and I found nothing.
We need an explanation for why the sudden increase in our water bills.
